Thursday, November 1, 2018 (S56E147): Thunder Rolls

Lightening and thunder strike as the party gets underway; Felicia congratulates Laura on her campaign turnout… Laura repeats that this is about raising money for mental health, not about her campaign.  “Kevin” says, selfishly, he wants both: good mental health care and his wife as mayor.  Jordan and Chase arrive; Jordan finds Curtis.  Cameron and Joslyn are dressed as Hans Solo and Princess Laya; she recalls last Halloween, with Oscar.  He pulls her close, as if he is going to kiss her, and he squirts her with Silly String; she tells him she will get him back when he least expects it.  They take a picture to try to make Oscar jealous.  Oscar is working at the bar; he tells his dad he has a place to live now.  Drew finds it hard to believe that not having rent money doesn’t matter to them; he tells Oscar that he is his life and he isn’t ready to let him go; he pleads with him to change his mind about the clinical trial.  Alexis shows up next; Laura notices the watch she’s wearing.  Alexis asks if she disapproves; Laura says it isn’t her place, but warns it might have come with a hidden cost.

Lulu tells her mom she is proud of her; she says she loves Ned and he’s a great grandfather to Rocco and Charlotte, but she says no one is as qualified as her mother for this job. Ned shows up; he announces that he is refocusing his campaign on the issue of mental health.  Olivia tells everyone that she and Ned are going to match every dollar raised by the good people of Port Charles tonight; Carly brings up Ferncliff.  Ned tells her, after his re-election, he will address that personally; Alexis tells him he better rethink that because she just checked the polls and Laura Collins is surging.  Ned stews about Laura’s rise in the polls; she consoles him, saying it is almost impossible for a write-in candidate to win an election.  Michael tells his mom that he has started attending the group at the hospital to cope with his grief over Jonah; she tells him how proud she is of him.  He gets up for a drink; Ava swoops over and comments on Michael’s capacity for forgiveness, bringing up A.J.  Carly warns her not to go there.  Mac shows up, in costume; he tells “Kevin” he brought his.  Mac is shocked at “Kevin’s” response; he is not aware of the alter-ego characters Mac is referring to (“Norma and Eve”).  He makes up an excuse about that probably not being appropriate in today’s sensitive climate.

Carly talks to “Kevin” and asks about her old neighbor; he gets upset with her and tells her she “should know when to back off.”  He goes to the bar to get a drink, and stops to talk to Ava; he encourages her self-exploration and tells he looks forward to finding out what else is going on inside that mind of hers.  Chase sees Michael and sits down with him to have a drink; they talk about Nelle.  Chase says he questions how he did a lot of things with Janelle; he regrets getting involved with her in the first place.  Michael tells him he made things right and can make peace with himself; Chase thanks him for saying that.  Valentin apologizes to Nina for inconveniencing her tonight; Nina doesn’t buy it… she thinks he somehow arranged this on purpose.  He swears he didn’t order the rain, nor the closing of the shuttle boat.  Valentin swears he didn’t purposefully set any of this up, but vows once again his love for her.  She says that makes it even harder for her to believe him as he is using it to his advantage; he says he will use any advantage he can to get her to come back to him.  She kisses him, then pulls away, saying that was a mistake. He pulls her back to him; she says she doesn’t want to confuse Charlotte.  He says she would be happy for them; Nina says the fact is that she knows he will hurt her again and she isn’t going to let it happen.  He looks hurt, and goes to check on Charlotte.

Julian tells Kim he wasn’t successful in getting Alexis to drop Oscar’s case; she thinks it’s because he agrees with her.  She repeats her determination to get Oscar into these trials, to prolong his life; Julian asks her to think about the possibility that it doesn’t work.  He asks her, “what if these really are Oscar last few months… how will you feel if you spend it all fighting?”  She says she isn’t giving up without a fight; he tells her he will be right there fighting with her. Kevin and Laura call for everyone to play games; first competition is Bobbing for Apples… Mac calls for takers; Laura urges “Kevin” to be a good example but he tells her he has to go, claiming to be returning to his supposed sleep-study.  As Cameron and Jos leave the docks to head to the party, Cam finds an ID card on the ground… it’s Mary Pat’s.  Carly volunteers to be first at apple-bobbing and is horrified when a face appears ‘bobbing’ in the water amongst the apples.  It’s Mary Pat’s.

Wednesday, October 31, 2018 (S56E146): It’s Halloween…

Peter is surprised when he learns it’s Maxie’s birthday, as well as Halloween; he is dressed up as a baseball player, tells her he is going to the fundraiser tonight and asks her to go with him.  She tells him she would rather not, explaining that she has never been big on celebrating this day – she says she’ll be fine and makes him leave.  He exits, but shortly returns, out of costume, with dinner and a birthday cake in hand; he talks her into letting him in and they enjoy an evening together, binge-watching The Brady Bunch from the pilot episode.  Maxie says she is “so happy right now.”  Peter says he is too.

Felicia is setting up for the fundraiser, at The Floating Rib… she is started when “Kevin” appears out of nowhere; he makes small talk instead of giving a specific reason he’s there.  He had told Laura he had a meeting; she’s at the hospital campaigning still, or working on her campaign platform – social welfare/ mental health.  She says, she doesn’t really think she has a chance of winning, but she is happy to be able to bring attention to these issues.  “Kevin” offers to help Felicia set up for the party, as he carries on conversation; she mentions being glad that she’s home and settled now, especially with it being the anniversary of the Ryan Chamberlain murders.  “Kevin” questions if she doesn’t miss the adventure; Felicia says that she has learned, “grandmother-ing is the best adventure of all.”  One of the caterers comes in with a tray; “Kevin” manages to get a folding knife off of it and slips it into his pocket.  Ava comes in and tells him that they have an appointment for next Tuesday, at 2pm; he says he is looking forward to it.  Felicia is shocked that he would be treating “that woman” but he pleads the case that everyone is entitled to affordable healthcare; she concedes.  He slips over to speak with Ava; she says she has been engaging in some “harmless mischief.”  He says, “good for you” and tells her he can’t wait to hear all about it at their next meeting.  More guests arrive; the party begins.

Before Sam and Jason take their kids trick or treating, they talk about how Jason never cared about Halloween; he explains to them, it is because he doesn’t remember it as a child.  They sit on the couch at the end of the evening, laughing at the kids “in a sugar coma” – Jason carries one off to bed.  He teases Sam for her choice of a goat as a costume for Scout; he asks about Danny’s past costumes.  Sam tells him that she doesn’t care that he wasn’t there for past Halloweens or that he doesn’t like them; she says she is just happy he is there for this one.  She lays her head on his shoulder; he says he is happy too.  They kiss.

Tuesday, October 30, 2018 (S56E145): What’s On Pier 55?

Lulu finds Michael at The Floating Rib; she asks if he’s okay and doesn’t believe him when he says he is.  He tells her he will be; she meets with Peter.  Peter tells her that he needs her to change her latest article; she’s getting too deep into the philosophy about the mind of a serial killer.  Laura tells Carly that she was impressed with how she handled herself at Fern Cliff today; Carly says it actually made her feel empowered.  She is frustrated though that they couldn’t see the patient she wanted to see; she can’t forget how he would scream and cry, pounding on the walls.  Laura says she is sure Carly isn’t the only one to suffer at the hands of Mary Pat.  Carly almost tells Laura that she thought, at one point, that her neighbor was Kevin, but she stops herself.  Mary Pat tells “Kevin” she was pretty sure they hadn’t seen the last of each other, when he walks into The Floating Rib; “Kevin” says, “not yet… but that day is fast approaching.”  He tells her to meet him at Pier 55; she says she can’t get a drink there.  “Kevin” reaches behind the bar and grabs a bottle; he tells her he knows the owners, and they let him get away with murder.  On the docks, he tells her that as soon as he sets her up, their association is through; she says there may still come a day when she calls on him, reminding him that his secret is worth at least that.

Chase sees a girl sleeping in her car; he wakes her and asks her to get out of her car.  She refuses, until she calls to verify that he is a detective; Chase makes sure she isn’t drunk and tells her to move her car.  It won’t start; he offers to give her a ride.  Anna tells Britt that she could arrange an exchange; she gets out and her mother goes in.  Britt tells her to sweeten the pot; she says she isn’t turning her mother in just for an early release… but she changes her tune when Anna refuses to negotiate.  They take her out to dinner; she gorges.  Lulu sees her and freaks out; she goes over and starts yelling at her, asking what she is doing out of prison.  Britt gloats that she is “out” and tells Lulu to get used to it; Peter asks who this is.  Lulu angrily says, “Britt, this is Peter.  Peter; meet your sister.”  Lulu walks out to find Chase and this girl; she introduces them.  The girl, Willow, she says, is single; she leaves.  He notices a flyer for a bereavement group in her car.  Lulu finds her mom and tells her that she had a nice talk with Kevin today; Laura says it’s nice that he could make time for one of them.  Laura asks if Lulu has noticed anything strange about Kevin lately; Lulu says she hasn’t noticed anything.

Michael tells his mom about Margaux approaching him; he says if she digs any more he is going to file a complaint.  Carly says that’s a great idea; they need to try to get her out of office.  He confides in his mother that he is not doing well; he says he thinks about Jonah all the time, and he is tired of pretending.  She hugs him and tells him that’s okay; he tells her he is going to start going to a grieving group.  Sonny determines that he needs to go and talk to Margaux and confront her with the truth; he calls her and says it’s time they had it out.

Monday, October 29, 2018 (S56E144): Love Letters

Sam talks; Jason listens, as she is telling him that she tries to forget him… has tried to forget him, tells herself she can live without him, but then she sees him and nothing else matters.  Jason says that he wanted to call her, but couldn’t; he says, even though he is afraid of nothing, he was too afraid to say it out loud… he crumples up a letter and says, “this one’s worth nothing.”  They wonder if they have hit a dead end with the love letters they got from Margaux’s mother.  They then look at each other uncomfortably.  Sam wonders how Janette got her letters back from Scully; they agree love makes you do strange things.  They imagine what a big hit this would be to the D.A.; Sam says she almost feels sorry for Margaux, adding, “it’s going to be a pretty big pill to swallow.”  Jason admits how much he still thinks of Sam.

Anna and Finn discuss taking a trip to Detroit, since they don’t have a location on Obrecht.  She questions his choice of vacation destinations; she says no… she tells him there is somewhere far more important she has to visit.  They end up at Pentonville.  Anna admits that she never liked Britt, especially because of how she treated Emma; Finn wonders who couldn’t like Emma.  Anna calls Britt a “particularly evil person” but “kind of sane-ish, unlike her mother.”  She says she is only willing to work with her to try to put Obrecht behind bars, in an effort to keep Peter safe.  She tells Britt she wants to offer her a trade; she moves out of Pentonville, and her mother moves in… she offers to set Britt up at the Metro Court.  Sam wonders who Margaux will try to target next.  Sonny talks with Michael about his grief; Michael says he is trying and Sonny says that’s all you can really do.  He tells him throwing himself into his work is okay, and backsliding is part of the process.  He says you just have to talk to someone, find someone who will listen, until you just get through it.  He apologizes for seeming to tell him what to do; Michael thanks him for the advice.  Michael asks what he should know about the explosion at Charlie’s.  Sonny then warns him about the D.A. coming after them, and glances at her, as she comes into the bar.  He says he wouldn’t be surprised if she shows up on Michael’s door; Michael says he hopes she does.  After Sonny leaves, she approaches his table; she brings up the fact that Sonny not only killed her father, he killed his (meaning A.J.);.he tells her she doesn't know the whole story.

Jordan and Curtis discuss the seating arrangements for their wedding; he worries that Aunt Stella’s chair will be empty during the ceremony.  “Kevin” calls Carly when he hears that she and Laura are headed to Ferncliff; he says he will be right there to meet with her, but Stella sidetracks him.  She chews him out about not turning in a form and demands that he get it right now.  Laura asks Carly if she is sure she wants to see the person in the room next to her former room; she says she wants to put a face to the screams, but when she looks in, she cannot see any one.  We see that Kevin is slumped on the floor, right up against the door, just out of her view.  Mary Pat shows up, with her box of things in hand; she blames Carly for her dismissal.  Mary Pat is surprised when Carly tells her no one is in the room… “Kevin” appears and dismisses her before she can say anything.  He chews Laura out for going there without telling him, claiming to be concerned for her safety  Jason finds ‘the smoking gun’ in the love letters; a request from Margaux’s mother for Joe Scully to kill her husband.

Friday, October 26, 2018 (S56E143): Who Is Ryan Chamberlain?

Sasha agrees to stay in town and accept a job with Crimson.  She laughs with Kiki about all of her newly-found, screwed-up relatives.  Kiki welcomes her to the family, with a giggle.  Kiki says she is excited to have a big sister; she invites her to stay with her at her place.  Sasha accepts.  Kiki has to leave; Ava sits down… she proceeds to tell Sasha about her relationship with Griffin and Kiki’s betrayal.  Sasha isn’t sure how to respond; Ava excuses herself.  Franco tells Liz that he has an idea to make Aiden the most popular kid in third grade; he tells her he wants to build a volcano and teach the kids about different colors and how they elicit different emotions from different people.  He thinks Aiden will be so engrossed in what he is doing, he will forget that he is shy; Liz thanks him for the thoughtfulness, but says she doesn’t think it will work.  She agrees to let Aiden decide though.  Franco goes to the hospital where he sees Ava; she is in a surprisingly good mood.  She tells him that Dr. Collins has encouraged her to be herself and quit apologizing for her actions; Franco laughs at the thought that she apologizes at all.

Sam and Spenelli dress up like auditors for the insurance company and go to speak with Marino’s widow; they tell her they need to know the exact month that her husband passed in order to process her claim.  She says it was March; she says she “just knew, the minute he walked out that door, Vincent was headed for his death.”  They asked why she had never filed on the insurance before this then; she says because of Margaux… she couldn’t bring herself to tell her little girl that her father was never coming home.  Laura tells Carly, if she wants to back out of going to Fern Cliff with her, she will understand; Laura is launching her campaign based on mental health treatment.  Lulu has an intense conversation about Ryan with “Kevin” and gains some personal insight into the mind of a psychotic killer.
