Monday, April 2, 2018 (S56E1): A New Season Begins

Griffin writes a letter to Jordan, to be sent anonymously; Anna walks in and says, “you’ve been keeping secrets.”  She tells Griffin that she found out he has “moved up to artier digs.”  He says the earthquake destroyed his apartment and he is really just a guest at this point.  When she brings up Jason, Griffin asks if she is going to be willing to stand aside and let him kill Heinrik.  He tells her that Jason’s goals are different than hers and asks if she doesn’t have someone else she trusts; she recalls a moment with Finn.  She says no one she would risk getting hurt.

Lulu asks Peter for help, with Maxie; atoning for her sins.  She tells Peter that Maxie wouldn’t even make eye contact with her last night at the gathering.  He says he shares some responsibility for encouraging her to write the article; he says he will do what he can.  Lulu asks if he could possibly get her an advanced copy of the book, The Severed Branch; Peter asks what she’s going to do with it, and she says “expose Heinrik Faison.”  He, surprisingly, hands her the book he received today; he reminds her that “no one gets to chose their parents” and asks what if Sinclair is only guilty of being Faison’s son.  Lulu says, then, that is the story she will write; she takes the book and leaves.

Alexis tells Finn she wants him to put an end to their fake relationship; although admitting that she blurted it out because she wanted Julian to believe she was over him, she says she doesn’t want him to find out she lied to cover up her “big feelings for him.”  Finn suggests they “get serious” instead.  They agree they don’t mind each other’s company and “it wouldn’t be horrible.”  He says he is available nights and most weekends, now that he isn’t bringing down drug dealers with Anna.  He happens to bump into Anna on his way out the door, and acts extremely awkward; she smiles and nods.  Alexis asks Anna if it’s okay for her and Finn to be ‘dating’ (with a dislike for the word); she asks “is he free?”  Anna says she doesn’t own him and tells Alexis to “go for it.” Finn gets three tickets after stopping to help an old lady take in groceries; when he realizes who they are from, he gets angry and goes to the police department, asking for officer #whatever.  He tears the tickets up in front of the officer, who says that won’t make them go away; Finn says this is harassment.  They guy says he just wants to get to know his “big brother” – Finn wants nothing to do with him though.  He protests, “we have the same father” but Finn says he was grown and gone before this guy ever came into the picture and he sees no reason to get to know him now.  He leaves the man standing there and gets in the elevator.

Spenelli is preparing for his impersonation of Hienrik; he thinks somehow this will also help Jason and Sam get back together.  Jason tells Spenelli that Sam and Drew already broke up; Sam goes to tell Drew goodbye.  He tells her it’s okay to take Scout.  Jason explains that Sam needs some time by herself; Spenelli leaves for his flight, saying his “contingency plan couldn’t be in better hands.”

Nina runs into Maxie; she asks if she missed the appointment… she questions how she could have missed putting it in her calendar.  Maxie says she didn’t tell her about it and walks away; Nina assumes it slipped Maxie’s mind to tell her, but Maxie asks what if it didn’t.  Nina doesn’t understand.  Maxie tells her she just reminds her too much of Nathan being around all the time; she says she doesn’t want her to leave her alone, just that maybe they spend a little less time together.  She says it’s important for her to spend time with people who aren’t quite so connected to Nathan.

She thinks Nina took it okay; Meanwhile, Nina is kicking the wall by the elevator, and Griffin has to stop her.  He checks her foot for fractures, then goes to see Peter; he overhears Maxie talking to Peter.  She says she doesn’t see why their friendship will be a problem.  He steps aside as Maxie leaves; he goes back into the office after her and confronts Heinrik Faison.

Friday, March 30, 2018 (S55E250): LUKE’S

Sonny gives a nice narration about memory, and how much it defines us; he says “we are the sum total of the connections we’ve made and the people we’ve lost.”  Beautiful.  Mike looks at pictures as we hear him speak; Sonny, Michael and Dante come in all dressed up and tell Mike they are taking him out.  They go to “Luke’s”… Mike asks how this is possible; Luke’s burned down years ago.  Sonny tells him that he called Luke up and they decided to give it a second go; he tells his dad to get behind the bar, saying he needs someone to help run the place.  Mike jumps right into action; he recalls most of the guests.  Sonny thanks Kevin for his advice.

An old (black and white) clip of GH plays when Elizabeth mentions her grandfather first meeting her grandma; Monica says he led by example.  Bobbie sees Scotty and thanks him for coming; he says he did it for her, not Sonny, but says he does respect what Sonny’s doing for his father.  Bobbie tells Scott, if he wants to pay tribute to Lee, he should be the “good man” Lee knew he could be.  An old clip of Scotty begging his dad to represent him plays; Scotty tells Bobbie its her fault he never became a judge on the supreme court, blaming it on her bringing her brother to town.  An old clip of Bobbie and Luke, talking about his coming to town, plays.  Bobbie tells Scotty that she knows he secretly likes Luke; Scotty groans.

Felicia and Mac show up; Mike asks Sonny when Brenda is going to show up, laughing about how long she takes to get ready.  Sonny takes a breath and smiles.  Bobbie asks where Maxie is; Felicia and Mac say they tried, but she isn’t “there” yet.  Bobbie asks if she can try; Felicia says please do.  Maxie tells Bobbie she doesn’t feel up to a party; Bobbie says this isn’t a party, it’s about helping Mike.  Ned tells Olivia about his grandfather; an old clip of Edward and Lila Quartermaine plays, Lila complaining about them not being married yet.  Ned tells Olivia she does for him what Lila did for Edward; she tells him not to forget that.  Monica opens up to Michael a little bit about herself and Alan; an old clip plays of them having a pillow fight.  She said no one could make her angrier, or make her laugh harder; she tells Michael she misses him every day.

Anna arrives; Sonny introduces her to his father.  Mike recognizes her name as “Robyn’s mother” and tells her Robyn is an amazing girl; Anna tells Sonny about a time she thought she had lost Robyn forever.  An old clip of Robyn, as a little girl (age 8 or 9), running into Anna’s arms, plays, she tells Sonny she swore she’d never let her go and never bring her unhappiness again; Sonny says all you can do is love your kids and be the best you can for them.  Carly asks Jason about the old times; she tells him that Luke blackmailed her to stay away from his sister, calling herself a “conniving witch… up until the day Michael was born.”  An old clip of Michael’s as a newborn plays, Jason holding him for the first time; she says he changed everything.  Jason looks at Michael; Carly tells him they were talking about how tiny and fragile, yet tough, he was as a baby.  Carly says “time flies.”  They smile.  Sonny can’t believe it’s been 23 years; an old clip of Sonny asking Robyn if Stone was dead, plays.  He says “he was 19… he’s been gone longer than he lived.”  Anna says “he lives on in her heart.”

Olivia announces “Eddie Mays” (aka, Ned); he sings and plays guitar with backup.  Maxie comes in with Bobbie; beautiful as ever, she stands stoic.  She goes to the bar and is introduced to Mike; Bobbie and Felicia talk.  Maxie compliments Mike’s mixing ability, when he makes her a pomegranate spritzer.  Bobbie tells Felicia that she told Maxie the only way to honor the dead is to embrace living; she smiles and says Maxie is already figuring out that the easiest way to deal with grief is to help others.  An old clip of Felicia and Bobbie plays; Felicia is in tears and Bobbie comforts her, after they get the news of Georgie’s heart condition.  Felicia thanks Bobbie for her daughter.  Alexis congratulates “Eddie” and an old clip of her, dressed up naughty with a rose in her mouth, sitting on Ned’s bed plays… she says that wasn’t one of her best moments.  He says it was; she smiles.

Mac recalls Lucy’s strip show/nurses’ ball; clips from various nurses’ balls play.  Mac tells Lucy she always wore great dresses over the years; Lucy calls him “Eve.”  Kevin recalls getting dressed up with Mac; this old clip plays, the two of them in drag as Eve and Norma.  Kevin tells Mac he’s been a great friend.  Mike teaches Michael how to shake a drink in a mixer; Dante tells Sonny this was a great idea.  Dante asks his father if he ever thinks that his money and power came at too great a price; Sonny says he has a lot of regrets.  The clip of him shooting Dante plays; Dante tells him that he liked him in spite of everything, even back then and he is honored to be his son.  Sonny tells him he is a great son; they hug.  Monica talks to Jason about “looking back” and says it’s not so bad to remember the past every now and then; Jason says he is learning that.  He apologizes for not ever letting Monica tell him any stories; she tells him one now, about her son coming to her rescue once.  A clip of Jason stopping Monica from shooting someone, plays.  They tell each other “I love you” and he calls her mom; she smiles and they hug.

Sonny tells Carly he owes her everything, saying he would have blown it all to hell if it wasn’t for her; an old clip of them plays.  She says nothing worth having is ever easy and they tell each other “I love you” and kiss.  Mike tells Sonny he is proud of him; Sonny says he has done better than he expected and far better than he deserves.  Mike tells him he is a good son; they drink “one for the road.”  Sonny toasts to a hell of a night and a better tomorrow as he leaves Luke’s.

Thursday, March 29, 2018 (S55E249): MEMORIES

Sonny, Michael, Dante and Mike meet for breakfast; Sonny tells his dad he had the breakfast special ordered.  It’s a dish they used to get back home, from a restaurant owned by a man named Tony that his friends was once very good friends with; Mike doesn’t recall this ‘Tony.’  He asks where Morgan is and tells Michael to tell his snot-nosed little brother what he missed when he leaves; at home, Sonny tries to talk to his dad some more about another man they knew very well.  Mike doesn’t remember him either.  Sonny says it’s okay.  His dad has an earlier memory of taking a date to Tony’s when he was young; he tells Sonny about it.  He can’t remember the woman’s name, but Sonny reminds him; it was Adelle.

Lulu asks Nina how Maxie is doing; Nina says Maxie doesn’t want anything to do with her.  Lulu says she knows; Nina says she won’t give her a message either.  Lulu says she’s not asking her to; she just wants to know she’s okay.  Nina tells Lulu that Maxie is the strongest woman she knows, and she pulls herself through each and every day, no matter what.  Nina tells Lulu she doesn’t care if they ever talk again; Lulu leaves and sits back down at her table.  Nina tells Valentin that she doesn’t trust Peter; when she sees him come downstairs with Maxie, she gets angry.  She says she is going to find out what he is up to.

Griffin has moved in with Ava; he thanks her for “that soap” in the shower.  She says it’s as much for her as it is for him, because she likes the way it makes him smell.  He gets the results back, from the test he secretly ran, comparing Peter August’s DNA against Cesar Faison’s; it’s a 99.99999% match.  Peter is Cesar’s son; which also means, he is Anna’s son, but Griffin isn’t sure what to do with what he now knows.  Ava tells him he knows what he needs to do because he is the most honest, caring and loving man she knows; she trusts he will do what is best.  Griffin goes to meet someone.

Wednesday, March 28, 2018 (S55E248): The Package

Maxie comes back to her apartment to find a box in front of the door; it is a gift from Nathan, ordered before his death… a blanket for the baby.  She says she had this brilliant idea to get rid of everything that reminded her of Nathan after his funeral; but it didn’t help, she says.  She tells Peter that she has been considering downloading the pictures from the ‘cloud’ and putting them in frames again; Peter tells her there are no rules when it comes to grieving, as she hugs the blanket.  Although it kind of makes her sad, she says, “this is going to help.”  Peter apologizes for running that article, which ultimately got Nathan killed; Maxie tells him it isn’t his fault.  She says she knows what he’s doing and it isn’t going to work.

Kiki rearranges her schedule to work the night shift; she seems slightly uncomfortable when Dr. Bensch sees her in the hallway.  He says he hopes her changing shifts didn’t have anything to do with him; she says it doesn’t.  She says she just wanted to focus on school during the day; he says good.  He was afraid his “attempt to help her relax with a massage” yesterday might have upset her; she says she just overreacted.  He asks if she would come sit in his office for a few minutes, but she says her shift just started; he suggests, on her break then, and tells her she won’t regret it.  She doesn’t look so sure.  She goes though, and he tells her she was awarded the ‘shadow’ position, because of his vote; she questions if she really deserved it, or it was just because of him.  He questions why that matters, but assures her she deserves it; she says thank you.  He asks if that is all he gets, after being her number one fan, and champion, and he leans in and kisses her; she jumps backward and pushes him off, asking what he thinks he is doing.  She leaves his office.

Carly is surprised when she sees Drew, all beat up; he tells Carly that Sam has admitted that she’s still in love with Jason – then tells her to “go ahead and celebrate.”  She hands him a tissue to wipe his face with and gives him an aspirin; she says she is sorry he got hurt.  As Joslyn and Oscar sit talking, in his kitchen, a knock comes on the door.  Jos answers it and sees that it is Carly and Drew; Carly asks if Jos is ready to go and Drew asks Oscar if he is up for some company.  Drew asks Oscar how he’s doing, after being locked in the freezer during the earthquake, and almost dying; Oscar says he’s fine, “almost being the operative word” he says.  He tells Drew he is happy is has a great mom, a dad (finally) and a baby sister who is crazy-cute.  Jos sense that her mother is disturbed by something, but Carly only tells her that the fire alarm when off today.

Jason and Sam sit down at the police station; he tells her not to be so tough on herself.  She says she told Drew she just has to figure out who she is; Jason asks how she feels, and she says, “lost and really, really scared” but she is sure she’s making the right decision, even knowing she could end up without either one of them.  Jason looks at her matter-of-factly.  He says he’s okay with whatever she decides; he just wants her to be happy.  He asks what she needs; she says she needs to get away… from Port Charles, from Drew, and from him too.  Jason asks Sam if she needs some coffee; she says that would be nice.  He asks if she will be there when he gets back; she says she isn’t going anywhere yet.  When he comes back, Jason tells Sam that he hurt her once, but he will never do it again.  Sam says this sucks; Jason agrees.  She talks about her uncertain future and closing this chapter in her life; Jason tells her there is to time clock, she can go at her pace.  She decides to sit for five more minutes.  She recalls the story of their first meeting, there in the police station – she had been brought in for aiding and abetting Sonny; Jason had too.  She stands up and walks out; Jason almost tears up.

Franco tells Elizabeth that he loves her, and needs her, but he has realized that he self-sabotage’s their relationship; he says that way, he keeps some measure of control – a say in how things get blown to bits, instead of sitting around waiting for something bad to happen.  He keeps secrets, knowing it will disappoint her, maybe even drive her away; he says she deserves more, he knows that.  He tells her he will be the kind of guy she deserves one day, and he prays that she will be waiting for her.

Tuesday, March 27, 2018 (S55E247): Fight on the Docks

As Maxie seems to depend more and more on Peter to help her through these difficult days, Nina becomes uneasy with his willingness to help.  She says there is something more to Peter than he is admitting, and she is going to find out what it is.  Curtis leaves Drew sitting on the docks, getting drunk on beer; Drew sees Jason happen by and confronts him.  Drew tells Jason that Sam was happy, until he came back; he says he gave her everything she ever wanted – safety, security, and a simple life.  They get in a fistfight after Drew throws the first punch, and both end up getting arrested.  When Sam gets a call from an officer at the PCPD, she isn’t too surprised; she goes down to bail Dr4ew out and offers to “pay the other guy’s bail too” but the officer tells her that his lawyer has already been there and taken care of it… threatening to sue the police department for all sorts of things.  Sam guesses that was Diane; they bring Drew out.  Sam looks at him, but he won’t look at her; he leaves without saying a word to her.  They bring Jason out next, and Sam approaches him; she notices the black eye and says, “oh your face.”  Jason asks her how she is doing; she says, “I’m okay.”Franco goes in to see his mom, who has been committed to the hospital, but Betsy still isn’t willing (or able) to tell him everything; she only says that she is sorry and that she never wanted to hurt him.

Monday, March 26, 2018 (S55E246): Town Hall Meeting

Alexis comes to see Sam; Sam tells her “Drew left me.”  Sam explains; she tells her mom that her choices are coming from an honest place, which Alexis says is good.  She then asks Sam what she is going to say when Jason shows up at her door; she says she doesn’t really know, but she does know that she needs to learn how to trust herself again.

Carly tells Jason the scarf she found on her desk was exactly the same scarf Morgan is wearing in that picture; she tells him it was tattered and torn, and appeared to have dried blood on it.  She wonders about the phone calls, and now this scarf; she says it’s almost “as if Morgan were here.”  Curtis tells Drew that he and Jordan found Betsy Frank; she is “re-cooperating over at GH.”  Drew says he doesn’t really care.  He tells Curtis he and Sam are through.  Curtis asks for an explanation; Drew tells him when Jordan tells him that she’s in love with his twin brother, then “you know it’s over.”  Curtis says Sam must be acting on some misguided sense of loyalty to Jason; Drew says that makes no difference.  He admits that he feels like punching someone.  Jason does his best to console Carly after she begins to cry, talking about how much she misses Morgan.  She says she can’t help hoping that he’ll come home.  Curtis tells Drew not to do anything stupid; Drew thanks him for trying to help, but says he can take care of himself.  Curtis leaves.

Moving quickly, Kim and Julian go from flirting across the table to joking about his pull-out bed couch, to making love.  He tells her that this isn’t going to be a popular decision with anyone else; she says she doesn’t care what anyone thinks… no one tells her what to do, or who to do it with.

Ned holds a town hall meeting at Kelley’s to talk about the damage done by the fracking-induced earthquake; Lulu is there, as is Monica, Michael, Nina and Valentin…and of course Olivia.  They point out that most of the destruction was to residential buildings, on the low-income side of town.  Ned agrees they need to rebuild, but he says they need to do more.  Ned decides that he wants to begin a PR campaign to promote the city as a place that people want to live and stay; he wants to re-brand, and to show how they are rebuilding the city as part of the campaign.

Sonny asks Curtis why he isn’t in prison; Andre tells him that the WSB wants him to continue his memory mapping research.  Sonny hits him up about helping his father, but Andre says he can only do his work for the WSB.  Sonny says they don’t have to know…but no matter how much Sonny begs, Andre says he can’t help.  He ultimately tells him that his ‘technique’ is useless against Alzhiemer’s; he can’t prevent it from burning away memory, language, thought and everything that makes us who we are.  Andre tells Sonny he is the one who can help his father; he tells him to keep those memories gathered up and tucked away, because they will be more precious than gold.

Friday, March 23, 2018 (S55E245): Endings & Beginnings

So, Sam tells Drew they ‘need to talk’ and the expression on his face is one of concern.  She tells him she has feelings for Jason; he asks what that means.  She says she still loves him; Drew rolls his eyes.  He pulls away, as she tells him that she still loves him too.  She says this is “so confusing” for her, and begs him to understand; he asks her why they got married.  She says because they had built such a wonderful life and she wanted to hold on to it; she then says that ‘something changed.’  She tells him she meant everything she said in her vows; he was the only man she loved, or so she thought… she says, now, she needs to figure out who she is again.  She says she doesn’t have any idea how she let it get this far; Drew asks “how far did it get?”  She admits that they kissed on New Year’s; he says he thought something was wrong that night.  He decides he needs to move out; he says he can’t stay there, with Jason between them.  He says it’s too painful to stick around while she figures this out; she cries saying that he promised her he would always be there… he reminds her that she made promises too and he takes off his ring, leaving her sobbing as he walks out the door.

Alexis tells Julian that things are getting quite serious with Finn and her; she says he is decent and dependable, and sensitive – and makes her happy.  Julian scoffs at the idea; she tells him they take walks in the woods and says Finn is “it” for her, and leaves.  Andre tells Anna to talk to Finn, after Finn appears in the doorway at the docks.  He leaves; Finn stutters to find words and pretends he was just passing by.  Anna tells Finn that there isn’t anything going on with Andre and asks if they can talk; Finn smiles.  She explains that her trip with Andre was business not pleasure; he mocks it being ‘spy’ business, but Anna admits it wasn’t – she tells him it was personal.  She tells him seeing him with Alexis did sting a little, because she knew they had a connection; she admits that she had put up a barrier between them.  She says she tried to convince herself she was protecting him, by keeping her secret, but she was really protecting herself because she didn’t want him to think less of her.  Finn is confused.  Anna tells Finn that he makes her laugh, a lot, and she loves it; she admits it’s selfish of her, especially since he is “with” Alexis.  He tries to tell her he isn’t with Alexis, but Alexis runs through the door saying he is just the man she needs to see.  Julian has pie with Kim; they have a lighthearted chat about his obsession with Alexis.  She suggests he fake it, until he makes it; he says he can try, and they smile sweetly at each other.  As he walks her out, Kim trips, and Julian catches her; they laugh, then they kiss.  Anna excuses herself, thinking that Finn would want to talk to Alexis.  Finn tells Alexis her timing could be better; she admits that she told Julian that they were serious.  Finn is not happy.  Ultimately, though, he decides that it doesn’t matter and tells her she can “let the lie stand.”  Anna sees Andre and tells him that she basically made a fool of herself.

Sonny takes his dad to the hospital; Brad tells him they will take his vitals in just a minute.  His dad mentions a time Sonny and his friend used to play kick the can in an empty lot every Thursday; Sonny says he wasn’t there, and questions how he remembers it.  His dad can’t explain, and questions why they are there.  Sonny says they are waiting for his favorite nurse to come see him, and tells him to calm down.  Mike gets upset, “first you call me a liar, and now you want me to calm down” – he says he’s done, and he wants to go home.  Michael shows up and sits down to talk with his grandfather; Mike tells him he’s going to need earplugs when the baby comes.  The nurse comes for Mike; Michael tells his dad that he always made him feel like the most important person in the room and he intends to do the same for his son or daughter.  They talk about old times and Sonny wonders how awful it must be not to be able to remember stuff like that.  He mentions the memory Mike had of him ‘kicking cans’ and again questions how it could be; he is sure his dad wasn’t there, but Mike insists he always was.  Michael says maybe the answer is somewhere in the middle.  Michael offers to take his grandfather out to lunch at Kelley’s; Sonny stays behind.

Michael tells his mom that he is moving out of the Quartermaine’s; Carly is thrilled that he is going to be away from Nelle.  Carly is surprised to see Spenelli when he shows up at the hotel; he says he and Ellie brought Georgie to see Maxie.  She inquires as to why he is meeting with Jason, but Jason pretty much tells her it’s none of her business.  Nelle leaves her little surprise on the desk at Crimson and leaves; Carly is baffled when she sees it.  But then she looks at a picture of Morgan next to her desk and sees that the scarf he is wearing in that picture resembles this one.  Nelle pulls the fire alarm; security comes to tell Carly she needs to leave the building… she leaves the scarf there.  When she returns to the office, with Jason and Spenelli, the scarf is gone.  Carly mentions having gotten creepy phone calls previously; Jason says he will get to the bottom of this.
