Friday, September 21, 2018 (S56E119): Quality of Life over Quantity

Cameron has flashbacks of Oscar kissing Joslyn and Franco on the phone talking about Oscar’s brain tumor; he sees Jos and Oscar in the mall, and decides to tell Jos that Oscar “may not have a later.  Drew talks with Franco; he tells him about Oscar’s illness and the fact that Oscar doesn’t know – he says he doesn’t know if he has a right to intervene since he’s only known him a year.  Franco says that’s makes no difference; he loves the kid, that’s all that matters, Franco adds.  Drew says he doesn’t know how to tell him he is dying though.  Franco says there is some comfort in ignorance; he imagines how their lives would be if they didn’t know half the stuff they do about their pasts.  “Sometimes the truth sucks,” he says.  He tells Drew to consider if he were in Oscar’s position, if he would want to know the truth.  Liz asks Kim in they can talk; they laugh about the boys’ altercation.  They talk about them working together at the community center; Liz asks, “what can go wrong?”  Elizabeth admits to Kim that she had to tell Franco; Kim worries that too many people are finding out.  She tells Liz that she had to prioritize quality of life over quantity for Oscar.  Drew tells Franco that Oscar wants to climb Mt. Kilamanjaro; Franco laughs, “better him than me.”  Oscar and Cameron have a small confrontation at the Center; when Jos leaves the room, Oscar asks Cameron, if they can’t actually get along, could they at least pretend for her sake.  Cameron calls him a liar, and says unless he is going to come clean with Joslyn any time soon, “hard pass.”  Oscar asks what he’s talking about and why he’s being such an ass; Cameron tells Oscar he should tell Joslyn that he has cancer.

Drew tells Kim he wants to look into drug trials; she shows him file after file, saying, “for every one that makes it, there are a hundred that don’t.”  Drew says one out of a hundred is better than nothing.  He tells Kim that he has decided Oscar has to know and he’d like for them both to tell him; he says if she doesn’t want to be there with him, he will tell him alone.Sam is sitting at the bar, when Margaux walks in and sits beside her; she notices the thick file in her hands… it is on Sonny.  Margaux says “the D.A.’s job is never done.”  Sam tells Sonny and Jason that D.A. Dawson made it very clear to her that she is “gunning” for them both.  She fears they “won’t be the only ones to pay the price.”  Chase brings Jordan the lab results on the man’s identification.  Jordan and Marguax review the evidence; Jordan says they are still compiling data because not everything is digitized.  She says the guy’s name was Vincent Marino, and asks Margaux if that name rings any bells with her; she looks like it does.  They discuss all people connected with Marino; the name DeLaney comes up.  Jordan mentions Sonny’s father being there the night of the explosion.  They deduce the possibilities; Jordan says they can make up all the stories they want, though, and it won’t get them any closer to the truth.  She calls Sonny and asks him to come into her office.  Jason wants to go with him, but Sonny tells him to stay and “hold down the fort.”

Sam asks Jason if he would make some plans to spend time with Danny; she says everything can change in an instant.  She also says, if there is a way to make peace with Drew, he should try; he is confused and asks what she is trying to tell him.Anna and Finn are out at the bar; Chase shows up.  He is surprised when his dad walks in; Finn calls it an ambush.  Chase says it isn’t; he had no idea his dad was coming.  The father swears it was not a set up, he says, he is staying at the Metro Court.  He admits, however that it is not entirely a social visit.  He tells them he is sick; Chase is concerned.  He mentions having a fever, aches and a rash; Anna gets concerned, saying that indicates that something is wrong.  He says that’s why his wife made him seek out the best infectious disease specialist in the country; he looks at Finn.  Finn says there could be some ethical issues because of their past history; Chase tells Finn he needs to help their father.
