Monday, August 20, 2018 (S56E99): It's My Baby

Alexis tells Brad and Lucas that the birth mother wants the baby back; as Michael holds the baby, Brad looks terrified.  Michael wonders if it’s worse to have your baby for a little while, and lose him, or not have him at all; he tells his mom he needs to go and clear his head.  Alexis tells Brad and Lucas that there will be a hearing to determine the placement of the baby now; Lucas asks what their chances are of getting custody over the birth mother.  She can’t say, but says she doesn’t know of a case where the judge ruled in favor of the adoptive parents.  Brad runs out the door, saying he can’t be here; Alexis tells Lucas she will do everything in her power to help them keep their son.  Brad shows up at Charlie’s; he tells Julian he needs his help.  Julian texts Lucas.

Carly and Sonny are concerned about Michael; Carly wonders how he is going to get through the funeral tomorrow.  They wish he would come stay with them; Carly fears Michael is putting on an act, “being okay” when he’s not.  Michael shows up at Charlie’s; Lulu hugs him and tells him she is sorry for his loss.  He thanks her; she leaves Chase sitting at the bar.  Michael sits down beside him, and they start talking.  Chase tells him he is “so sorry” and Michael says he is sorry too; then reminisces about all of the plans he had made for the baby… and how the only plan he has now, is burying his child.  Brad tells Julian that the baby isn’t the birthmother’s to take; Julian asks him what he means.

Peter tells Lulu about his purchase of the Invader, and his intent to turn it into a legitimate newspaper; he tells her he wants to “poach” her.  Sonny finally tells Carly about the body that is buried in the walls of Julian’s bar, the fact that Mike put it there, and that Julian is getting ready to renovate that portion of the building.  Drew asks Margeaux about the kiss; she questions if he thinks she is trying to seduce him to get him to help her.  She tells him that is insulting; she calls him a paranoid egomaniac.  All he hears is that she thinks he is sexy; lol.  He tells her, if he had kissed her uninvited like that, he’d be labeled a harasser; she concedes.  He admits he was a “little bit of an ass” and apologizes; she suggests he work on his technique.  He asks if they can try again and says he can do better.

Valentin goes to see Nina’s mother; he tells her that he is willing to hire a renowned attorney for her, Nora Buchanan, in return for information about what really happened during Nina’s twenty-year coma.  He tells her he doesn’t think Nina lost her baby; he thinks that baby is still alive… she tells him he’s crazy.  He guesses the baby was a girl; he can tell from her reaction that he is right.  He tells her what has roused his curiosity; he says he looked at the records and there is an eight-month period of time during her coma that Nina was not in the facility.  She admits that he is right; Nina had a daughter, who would now be twenty years old.  She says, she isn’t exactly the grandmotherly type, so she “got rid of her.”  The girl would have had a claim on Nina’s inheritance.  He demands a name of the “broker” but she says all the parties remained anonymous; she says she can track her down though, but not until his “high-powered attorney” secures her release.

Nina and Maxie go to Charlies; they are celebrating Maxie’s promotion.  Julian tells them Brad and Lucas might lose their son.  Nina tells Maxie that she still thinks about having a child; she starts to cry, saying “it’s all this lost baby talk.”  She says there is nothing worse than losing a child, no matter how it happens, yet questions how you can grieve something that never existed.  Maxie tells Nina she understands; Nina says she is lucky to have her in her life.
