Laura tells Lulu she thinks she and
Spencer need to move out; she says Charlotte needs her own room. Lulu tells her mom she is fine right where she is; Spencer comes in the door and
complains this living arrangement needs to change. Lulu asks what Rocco did; Spencer says Rocco is fine… it’s
“her.” They ask Dante what happened on
their walk; he says really nothing happened.
Spencer continues with the attitude; Laura asks him what is up. He reminds her that Charlotte and her father
took his house, are riding his horses, etc.; Laura tells him that’s
enough. He says it, indeed, is; he asks
if she has already forgotten about his father.
Kevin shows up and is happy to see Laura there; he asks her if she wants
to go with him since he now has the afternoon free. Spencer says he wants to go; everyone else agrees he should.
They take a walk in the park; he sees a
pretzel cart and asks for one. Laura tells
him he can have one, but makes him promise to apologize to Charlotte when he
gets home. He says he will, but he
won’t enjoy it; duly noted, Laura acknowledges. She and Kevin sit down on the bench; she tells him she knows that
she has been spoiling him, adding his whole family has done it all of his
life. She says she feels bad about
intruding on her daughter, and tells Kevin it’s time she and Spencer get a
place of their own; he suggests his place.
She says she doesn’t want him to feel like he has to rescue her; he says
if that’s what it seems like, he is doing something wrong. He tells her that he wants to wake up next
to her every morning; she argues that he might get annoyed by her and asks if
he isn’t scared… he says no. He tells
her his feelings for her are real and permanent, threatening to dig out his
Santa suit to convince her; she laughs.
Amy is upset that Nathan was listening
on her conversation; he says he just wants to help. She finally agrees to confide in Nathan and tells him about how
great her older brothers was (is, she says)… She tells him he was her “Man
Landers,” always offering his advice when she had troubles; she tells him after
he got home from Afghanistan, things changed.
She tells Nathan, her mom had to put him in a group home eventually
because they couldn’t take care of him anymore. She tells Nathan she started the column as a “hobby” – then her
mom died – she reveals that her dad was never in the picture, and it was up to
her then to pay the bills to keep Chet taken care of. She says she decided to monazite her blog and then people started
asking questions and wanting to know what Man Landers looked like; she admits
that taking his picture and posting it online was an impulse and apologizes
again. She gets up to leave and drops
her folder; Nathan is shocked to see all of Chet’s medical bills. She makes Nathan promise not to say anything
to anybody about all of this; he promises.
Even Maxi, he says; she tells him goodbye and starts to walk away, but
he tells her to wait. He asks what he
needs to wear for the interview; she says she didn’t confide in him to guilt
him into doing it… he tells her he knows, adding friends help each other and
that’s what they are – friends. She
hugs him.
Jake asks his mom what she is still worried about; she tries to cover,
claiming everything is fine. Jason
pushes the man off of him and down to the floor; he asks, since Helena is dead,
who the hell he is working for. Hayden
comes running into the exam room, darts through and into the bathroom; she
comes out and apologizes for them having to hear that. Liz tells Jake to go play with her phone;
Hayden confesses that she is pregnant.
Sam talks to Kevin about her concerns; she says she can’t wrap her head
around the two years of Jason’s life that are just missing. The man gets the upper hand on Jason, and
pins him down by the throat; he tells her that he used to treat Jason “way back
when, after his car accident” and says he is the most resistant patient he ever
had. He says Jason wanted to remain in
control; they discuss how Helena controlling him went against his very
nature. Jason manages to get his legs
up around the man’s throat, pulling him off; the man tells him he had no choice
but to work for Helena…”any more than you did when you were working for
her.”
As Jason holds him over the edge
of the balcony, the police arrive; they almost arrest Jason too, but Sam
explains that he was defending them.
The police officer asks Jason to come down the station and give a
statement; Jason tells Liz that he doesn’t believe Helena can hurt them
again. Liz asks Hayden if she will
watch Jake for a minute; she says sure and takes him to the vending
machine. Jason tells Elizabeth that
Costa is in custody now; she asks if they are sure he isn’t answering to anyone
else. Jason tells her that he says he
wasn’t and he believes him; he says whatever Helena did to him, she did to this
guy also. He was just carrying out
orders; as they talk, Sam looks over at Jason and sees blood all over his
forehead. Jason notices the strange
look on Sam’s face and walks over the stairs where she is sitting and asks if
she is alright; she tells him, “no, I don’t think I am.”
